Sisterhood

Temple Sha’arey Shalom’s Sisterhood is a wonderful way to get involved in our Temple community. The Sisterhood is a diverse group of women who come together in friendship, a sense of mitzvot and commitment to the well-being of our temple and community. We are committed to providing women an opportunity to participate in volunteer work, advocacy, fundraising and educational programs. Sisterhood contributes and belongs to the Women of Reform Judaism (WRJ); we are members of District Four. We meet monthly on the 2nd Monday of the month to plan events that benefit our entire congregation.

Sisterhood sponsors and coordinates Friday Night Onegs, Holiday Refreshments, B’nai Mitzvah Gifts, Confirmation Bibles, Complimentary Sisterhood Memberships for New Members, Gifts for College Students, Gelt for the Pre-school and Religious School, and Funding for Students Attending NFTY Conventions and Jewish Summer Camps. We have also contributed to the renovation of our temple building. In the past few years, our Shalach Manot project has grown so that every congregant receives a basket of goodies at Purim. We also donate Shalach Manot bags to Jewish residents at local assisted living facilities.

All of these projects and fundraisers raise money to support our informative and fun programming Temple-wide throughout the year; including Bagel Bingo Brunch, Girls’ Night Out, game nights, and informative speakers on interesting topics.

In order to give back to those who give so much to the Temple, the Sisterhood offers “Donor Points” to members who participate in certain facets of programming. Sisterhood has something for everyone — and Sisterhood needs everyone to do something! Please join us at our next meeting and meet the women who make Sha’arey go. All you need is the desire to connect with the women of our community in order to make our congregation a place for everyone to call home.
